About Creative Tile Design

I am an independent artist/designer specializing in hand-painted ceramic tile and other porcelain ware. I use a china painting process and fire my work in a kiln between 1166 - 1418 degrees F. Because china painting requires multiple firings to build up color, I fire many of my pieces two to five times. Upon firing, the painted designs fuse into the tile and become a permanent part of the tile. I do my own design work or I can work from photographs. If you have an idea I can work with it to make a custom design for you. I can create a tile mural for your backsplash or a tile border for a section of wall. The works displayed on this site are only a sample of the types of work that I can do. I welcome custom orders and am experienced in developing unique designs as specified by my customers. Please contact me to discuss a potential order or design idea. China Painting works best on glazed, light colored tiles like white, off-white or grey, marbled finish, gloss or matte finish. I usually use Daltile tiles, 4 1/4" square, 6" x 6" square, 6" x 8", and 8" x 10". I may work with other brands of tile, if provided by the customer, on a case by case basis.
